Install in a few minutes
You need Python 3.10 or newer. Everything else installs itself the first time you start the app.
- Install Python
Download it from python.org. The python3 that comes with macOS is too old.
- Download and unzip the app
Use the download button above, then double-click the zip file.
- Start it from Terminal
Open Terminal and run these two commands:
cd ~/Downloads/ai-folder-sorter
bash run.sh
- Press Sort
The app opens in your browser. The first time, it downloads the AI model once (about 150–600 MB).
- Install Python
Download it from python.org and tick “Add python.exe to PATH” on the first screen.
- Download and unzip the app
Use the download button above, right-click the zip and choose “Extract all”.
- Double-click run.bat
If Windows shows “Windows protected your PC”, click More info → Run anyway.
- Press Sort
The app opens in your browser. The first time, it downloads the AI model once (about 150–600 MB).
Tip: try it first with Preview only (in Settings). It shows the result without moving a single file.
Questions
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. The app runs only on your computer and only answers your own browser. The only download is the AI model itself, once.
What happens to duplicates?
By default they go to your Trash / Recycle Bin, so you can still restore them. You can also collect them in a “Duplicates” folder to check by hand.
Can I undo a sort?
Yes. Every move is recorded, and Undo puts each file back where it was, even after you restart the app.
The model download fails on my work computer.
Some company networks block it. In the setup window, choose “Install it by hand”: download the 4 files in your browser and pick the folder.
Which computers does it run on?
macOS, Windows and Linux with Python 3.10 or newer. Any computer from the last few years is fast enough.
